Black Brooklyn Renaissance is a year-long project that is the first of its kind to take
a holistic look at Black arts and culture in Brooklyn over five decades. Celebrating
performance, paintings, film/media, and symposia, this project explores a range
of genres and styles, and looks at how Black artists retain ties to mid-century social
and political movements and particularly how artists preserve legacies and influences
across generations.
